“A great stew is made from roasting bones. It takes time to
develop that meaty flavor that can’t be replicated buying
Swansons. That’s what good branding is like. Take it slow,
develop the idea, and then POW we got a soup on.”

At Creata, I began as an intern and swiftly advanced to a junior -level designer. Guided by an inspiring boss, I engaged in diverse projects, conceptualizing toys, designing, ensuring safety, and handling packaging. One notable endeavor was McWorld, an MMO site exclusively created for McDonald’s to modernize Happy Meal sales. We developed a groundbreaking free-to-play platform with licensed incentives accessible through Happy Meal toy codes, achieving remarkable success.

Noteworthy clients included Sanrio, Marvel, Avatar, TY, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Sketchers, and more. Our impactful contributions to the Happy Meal, featuring items like Hello Kitty and Marvel action figures, resonated with the emerging Generation Z, marking a significant shift toward online virtual experiences.

Creata had a ghastly logo. It was the shape of an egg with a photo-interpretation of the world in it. Conceptually it didn’t hold up well and would look very pixelated.

We were asked to reimagine how the company could use this egg-shaped world in presentations. Creata designed, produced, and manufactured 80% of McDonald’s Happymeal toys worldwide.

Instead of thinking about it as an oval-shaped globe, to me, it became a mark that represents the joy delivered to a child with our toys in their hands.
